New Delhi: Eleven people were killed in yet another drug related violence in Mexico. A heavily-armed commando of suspected drug hitmen in the cartel-laden state of Sinaloa killed nine people, including customers on Thursday.
The incident occurred in an auto-mechanic shop.
In an almost simultaneous attack in another part of the city, a policemen was gunned down in front of a local police station. Police were shot at with automatic weapons when they chased the fleeing gunman. Many one injured, while one was killed.
The killings have become a frequent occurrence in the city as the head of the Sinaloa drug cartel, Joaquin Guzman, is locked in a battle with his former ally Arturo Beltran Leyva, whose hitmen reportedly killed one of Guzman's sons in May.
Last week four severed heads were found dumped on a street in Culiacan, pinned with a vulgar message addressed to Guzman.
More than 300 people have died in drug murders so far this year in Sinaloa, a large chunk of the 1,700 people killed in drug violence around the country as rival gangs kill each other and the government wages a frontal attack against them with soldiers and police.
