Priyadarshan's next to be his 75th film

Mumbai: Very few directors have been lucky enough to have reached this magic figure, but for filmmaker Priyadarshan, directing 75 films with a success ratio of over 90 per cent is just one more milestone that had to be crossed.

"I always say, that intelligent people please don't watch my movies. Only children should watch my films, as it's not meant for intelligent people," says the filmmaker.

Priyadarshan is ready with his new film Mere Baap Pehle Aap, which releases this Friday. And believe it or not, his next film Billo Barber will be the 75th film of his career which has spanned over two decades.

With Billo Barber, the filmmaker brings the two talented Khans, Shah Rukh Khan and Irrfan Khan together for the first time.

"It's basically the story of Krishna and Sudama. As children when we used to listen to stories, its one story that touched us all, because we all have friends. Basically Billo Barber is the story of relationship between a barber and an actor, it's a story of friendship," he says.

"It's a very emotional film and I don't think that anybody will be able to come out of the theatre without shedding a drop of tear of happiness. You cry because of happiness. When I narrated the subject, I could see it in Shah Rukh's eyes and that is why he accepted the film," he adds.

A filmmaker who's successfully crossed the bridge from Malayalam to Hindi cinema, Priyadarshan's actors are in awe of his style.

"With Priyan there is never a dull moment," says actor Akshaye Khanna.

With Billo Barber almost complete the filmmaker is currently busy with two new projects, an Akshay Kumar starrer and a 3-D animation film.

When asked if he will ever make films like Gardish and Saza-e-Kalapani once again, the filmmaker replies, "Actually it's much easier to make serious, emotional and horror films but it's much difficult to make people laugh." says the master of madcap comedies.

"I don't know how far I will survive. The day they don't laugh and start laughing at me, then I will stop making comedies," he adds.
