New Delhi: The possibility of India launching strikes against terrorist camps in Pakistan occupied Kashmir is increasingly being talked about internationally.
Stratfor, an Austin, Texas-based global intelligence company, says India could launch precision air strikes and special force operations against terror camps in Pakistan occupied Kashmir.
“New Delhi is not interested in any major escalation and would likely prefer to limit the strikes to Pakistan-administered Kashmir, where groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba are based,” says the Stratfor report on the company’s website.
The report says Indian armed forces already have their mission orders, and are only waiting for the green signal from the Government.
India wants to give the Pakistani government a chance to act against the terrorists but has warned that all “options” against country are open. While precision strikes in Pakistan may not end terrorism, New Delhi believes it would send out a strong message to Pakistan not to support the terrorists.
External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee had hinted that India could take some sort of action. "Terrorism remains a scourge for our region. If a country cannot keep the assurances that it has given, then it obliges us to consider the entire range of options that exist to protect our interests and people from this menace," said Mukherjee in Gangtok in a statement, referring to Pakistan.
India blames elements in Pakistan for the November 26 terrorist attacks in Mumbai and has demanded that it crack down on militant groups and hand over people it wants for terrorism and crimes.
