New Delhi: A wealthy Delhi businessman decided to copy the plot of the Hollywood thriller 'Ransom' for kidnapping a 5-year-old to repay his debts.

The Hollywood flick inspired 26-year-old Milind Godi to come up with a sinister kidnapping plot.

What is even more shocking is that Godi is not a petty criminal but an affluent businessman, a hotel management graduate, who has had a stint working in the UK. After a bad shot at cricket betting, Godi thought this would be the short cut to repaying his debt.

After doing a recce of Delhi's posh Punjabi Bagh area, Godi identified 5-year-old Ram Arora and kidnapped him from outside his school on July 5. He then demanded Rs 15 lakh as ransom. The police directed his family to continue negotiating so that they could catch him.

But it wasn't easy. The millionaire kidnapper gave the police an hour-long chase before they finally caught him early on Wednesday morning. Ram is now back home and the family was glad that the most traumatic 24 hours of their life got over.
