New Delhi: The summer in Delhi is too uncomfortable, so the honourable ministers of the Manmohan Singh Cabinet are going on foreign tours.

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Priyaranjan Dasmunshi will leave for Germany soon, and he admits that he will use the opportunity to watch the World Cup.

Other ministers say their going on tours during summer is mere coincidence. Petroleum Minister Murli Deora will soon leave for China, Commerce Minister Kamal Nath is off to Japan and the US and Science Minister Kapil Sibal has already left for the US and England.

The Opposition says Prime Minister Manmohan Singh needs to enforce greater discipline. "The Prime Minister needs to take an effective step because ministers’ visits are cleared by him. It may be a reflection on the manner in which the Cabinet is being managed," says BJP spokesperson, Ravi Shankar Prasad.

However, Tourism and Culture Minister Ambika Soni, whose summer itinerary includes Spain and Tunisia, terms these accusations as politically motivated and far-fetched.

"The UPA Government is working and is delivering on its promises and we are not going to get distracted by these little wild cries," she says.
