New Delhi: The reigning Miss Universe Ximena Navarette from Mexico was in the capital on Wednesday for a charity tour celebrating the Girl Child, organised by designer Sanjana Jon. She is on a 10-day tour to India.
CNN-IBN’s Pallavi Paul caught up with her for a chat about the cause, Bollywood and world peace.
Pallavi Paul: We hear you are here for a good cause.
Ximena Navarrete: My cause is aids and HIV awareness and I travel the world for that, so I’m in india for that as well as for a charity called the ‘Girl Child’.
Pallavi Paul: Now let me ask you about your experience in india? How do you find it?
Ximena Navarrete: India has always been a dream to visit and now that I'm here, it’s beautiful. We went to the Taj Mahal which is amazing, and also Indian food is a lot like Mexican food.
Pallavi Paul: Also, there is a rumour that you want to be in a Bollywood film. People want to know, is that true?
Ximena Navarrete: Well, anything can happen. I'm open to it. But first I'd have to learn Hindi and all I know right now is Namaste. So we'll see.
Pallavi Paul: Let me turn to a more serious question now, you are a supporter of world peace, what do you make of the conflict in Egypt right now?
Ximena Navarrete: I think there are a lot of problems in the world, not just in one country but across the world. Everyone has to fight for what they want but I support the government of the countries so my message is just peace.
