VIJAYAWADA: A five-yearold girl who went missing from her house at Chevitikallu centre in Kanchikacherla on Thursday, was found dead in a drain near her home on Saturday morning.
A neighbour who found her body, informed the matter to her parents Jetti Venkateswara Rao, a lorry driver and Veeramma.
When Chandrika (5) went missing on Thursday morning, her parents and relatives searched for the girl at various places in the town.
In the evening, they lodged a missing complaint with the police as their search for Chandrika proved futile.
The police retrieved the body from the drain and sent it for postmortem.

He made it clear that it was not a case of murder.
As the girl’s body was in drain for nearly 48 hours, its colour changed.
The doctors of Nandigama hospital who performed autopsy, in their report stated there were no injuries on the body.
