Gurgaon: Missing Gurgaon executive Deepak Mendiratta, in a new twist to what till now was being touted as an abduction drama, returned home on Sunday.
According to sources, Mendiratta, who is now admitted in a hospital in Gurgaon reached home in a pathetic condition at about 0030 hrs (IST) on Sunday.
However the police who had registered a case of abduction, now suspect that 32-year-old Mendiratta had staged the entire drama and left home because he was under mounting debt.
This coupled with the fact that the family members maintain that there was no ransom call made to them has made the police more suspicious of the case.
Police had earlier said that Mendiratta was insured for a huge sum and this is a scam to get the money. An accusation that the family denied.
As CNN-IBN had reported, Mendiratta, senior executive of a global talent search and acquisition company, Adroit Quest had gone missing nine days back from Guragaon.
His car, a Honda City, was found abandoned and in flames off the National Highway-8.
Three days afterwards his devastated wife Shailly Mendiratta had made a desperate appeal to the 'abductors' of her husband.
