PHULBANI: Six months after a youth went missing his skeletal remains were traced near a stream by the Sadar police on Monday. Two persons were detained for interrogation.
The deceased Pradeep Sahu (21), son of Sibaram Sahu of Barapada village under Sadar police limits, had been missing since November 2011. After registering a missing case as the Sadar police did not take any action, the family filed a complaint case in SDJM court, Phulbani. The magistrate directed the police to expedite the investigation.
During investigation clues of murder came to light and two persons _ Kanhu Charan Pradhan and Santosh Sahu _ were detained for interrogation, said SDPO Gobinda Sethi. Kanhu Charan, a constable at Koraput police station, and Santosh Sahu, who happens to be Pradeep’s brother-in-law, admitted guilt and led the police to the spot at Barapolia stream under Khajuripada police limits where the body was buried.
The body was dug out and sent to Forensic Medicine and Toxicology Department at MKCGMCH Berhampur to ascertain the identity.   The two accused claimed that they beat Pradeep for stealing a cycle resulting in his death.
