Aizawl: Television serial Kasauti Zindagi Ki which has the Mizo community hooked to it since last year, has once again come into controversy.
Reports from Champhai district on Tuesday said, in a recent meeting of NGOs, it was decided to request the cable TV operators to stop screening the serial as it was allegedly creating “problems in church attendance and condolence gatherings”.
The NGOs were also of the opinion that the Hindi serials propagate Hinduism and frequent viewing of them by children could lead them “astray from the Christianity”.
The local vernacular newspapers particularly in Champhai had also discontinued printing the translated version of the serial despite public demand.
At present, the serial is very popular and nearly all-vernacular magazines across the state carry a translated version of the serial apart from the dubbing the serial during telecasting by local TV channels.
