MJ trial: Dr Conrad Murray to be sentenced today

New Delhi: Michael Jackson's physician, Doctor Conrad Murray will be sentenced on Tuesday. Murray is facing up to four years of imprisonment. He was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter for having given Jackson an overdose of the anesthetic propofol on the June 25, 2009 to help him fight chronic insomnia.

The Prosecutors, have asked for the maximum jail term for Dr Murray. They also want Murray to pay more than $100 million to compensate the Jackson family for the star's loss of earnings from his comeback show.

Murray has been in jail since he was convicted November 7.

Murray was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter for having given Jackson an overdose of the anesthetic propofol.

Prosecutors David Walgren and Deborah Brazil wrote that Murray has shown no remorse for Jackson's death and has placed blame on others, including Jackson himself.

In their memo, prosecutors said Murray "acted as an employee and as a drug dealer and completely corrupted the trust necessary in a proper doctor-patient relationship."
