Markets on a rally, Sensex gains 210 points

Mumbai: The markets are trading steady with moderate gains on account of some positive cues from global peers.

The benchmark Sensex is 210 points up. Nifty opened marginally up at 5,861.90 as compared to previous close of 5,858.35 on Tuesday morning.

The local market held in green during the early afternoon trade, at the gain of over 75 points with most Asian markets hovering in positive zone. Consumer durables stocks were in focus.

Most of the Asia ended in green and Europe opened higher. Broader markets have outperformed the frontliners giving markets positive breadth.

Frontliners like ONGC, Tata Motors, M&M and HPCL are trading firm. Barring IT all the BSE sector indices are in green.

Mid-cap and small-cap stocks were in demand. Market breadth was strong. 23 out of 30 stocks from the Sensex pack were in green. Most of the Asian indices were in green, traders were quoted by agencies as saying.

* FIIs net buy USD 28.4 million in equity on Dec 3

* MFs net buy Rs 449 crore in equity on Dec 3

* NSE F&O Open Interest up by Rs 2849 crore at Rs 92,969 crore

F&O cues:

* Futures Open Interest up by Rs 1288 crore, Options Open Interest up by Rs 1560 crore

* Stock Futures add 4.5 cr shares in Open Interest

* Nifty Futures shed 3 lakh shares in Open Interest

* Nifty Open Interest Put-Call ratio at 1.27 vs 1.32

* Nifty Puts, Calls add 9 lakh shares each in Open Interest

* Nifty 5900 Put adds 3 lakh shares in Open Interest

* Nifty 5700 Put adds 2.3 lakh shares in Open Interest

* Nifty 6100 Call adds 5.4 lakh shares in Open Interest
