A US special court has ruled on one of the biggest medical conspiracy theories, which is responsible for millions of parents refusing to get their children vaccinated with the MMR vaccine due to fears that it could lead to autism.
For years families of children with autism have believed Measles, Mumps and Rebella or MMR vaccine is responsible for their children's disorder. In a latest blow to this theory, a special US Court of Federal Claims has ruled that vaccines containing a mercury-based preservative called thimerosal cannot cause autism on their own.
The court ruled that such claims have no ''scientifically sound theory''. With autism affecting as many as one in 110 children in US, over 5000 lawsuits have been filed by parents blaming vaccines. But the US Institute of Medicine has reported several times that no link can be found between vaccines and autism. And experts in India also agree.
