MNCs hog limelight at IIM-A campus

Ahmedabad: The summer internship recruitment process at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM-A) ended with as many as 110 students of the 2006-08 batch being recruited by international heavyweights like Lehman Brothers and Merril Lynch.

Of the total 246 students in the batch, a large percentage of students will go to international locations like New York, Boston, London, Paris, Singapore, Tokyo and others for their summer internships, officials said.

Apart from 110 students being recruited by international companies, there has also been a substantial elevation in the roles being offered at entry level. For instance, Deutsche Bank, Lehman Brothers and Barclays Capital recruited students for Associate positions.

During the summer placement process which was held between November 11-16, students largely opted for finance (139 students), consultancy (40) and marketing (35) sectors, officials added.

Topping the list of recruiters were Lehman Brothers with 17 students, Merill Lynch with 10, JP Morgan and Barclays with 11 each and Citigroup with nine.
