New Delhi: Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev said on Friday he has banned use of polythene in his ayurveda organisation and its affiliated 125 institutes and called for its countrywide ban.
From Friday, Patanjali Ayurveda Institute has stopped use of polythene and also it has been banned in the 125 affiliated institutes, considering the fact that polythene is carcinogenic, Baba Ramdev was quoted as telling told a mass yoga training function in Raipur in Chhattisgarh.
Baba Ramdev said from Friday they would be using paper bags in the institute. He advocated the ban of polythene countrywide and said that the Chhattisgarh government should also take steps in that direction.
The yoga guru also called for making a New Year resolution to get rid of cold drinks from the country by 2007 saying "cold drinks had harmful effects on one's body and can make a person infertile."
Encouraging the use of swadeshi products, Ramdev said it was the conspiracy of the multinational companies to make India impotent. Therefore, he added both cold drinks and cosmetics should not be used.
