Mumbai: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) corporator Nitin Nikam has defended his action on publicly slapping a 65-year-old private contractor. The MNS corporator was caught on camera repeatedly and publicly slapping a a KDMC contractor, DV Patil. The police are yet to take any action against the corporator.
"If your work is improper and you don't understand me when I talk to you nicely then I will have to use the MNS way to explain it to you," Nikam said while defending his action. Nikam was upset that the private contractor had failed to repair a water pipeline which caused shortage in the area.
"There was a water problem in the area. I had gone there to fix the leak but he started thrashing me," Patil said.
Nikam had reportedly summoned Patil to complain about water shortage in the Ganeshwadi locality. Patil has alleged that when he went to register a complaint with the local police station, but was told it was a non-cognizable offence.
