Lucknow: A day after Bharatiya Janata Party Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi's grand show of strength in Varanasi, Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati has called it all an eyewash. Mayawati hit out at Modi saying that his road shows mislead people by showing he enjoys major support in the constituency.
She said that a majority of the people were not from Varanasi and the EC must take congnizance of this case. "The CEC should take cognizance of the fanfare with which Modi filed his nomination from Varanasi. We have been told that a majority of the people at the roadshow and at other venues in Varanasi were not from Varanasi. This was a planned strategy of the BJP," Mayawati said.
Modi on Thursday filed his nomination from Varanasi for the Lok Sabha elections amidst a huge show of strength. Modi led a roadshow before filing his nomination and paid tributes to Madan Mohan Malviya, Sardar Patel and Swami Vivekananda.
