Ahmedabad: Reacting to the SIT's summons in connection with Ehsan Jaffery murder case in 2002 riots, Gujarat government today said the Chief Minister will cooperate with the process of law.

"The state government and the Chief Minister would cooperate with the process of law," Gujarat government spokesperson Jaynarayan Vyas said.

He, however, refused to comment further saying whatever is required to follow the process of law will be done by the state government.

Acting on the complaint of Zakia Jaffery, widow of slain MP Ehsan Jaffery, the Supreme court constituted Special Investigation Team has summoned Modi, directing him to appear before the authority on March 21.

Jaffery has accused Modi and 62 others of hatching a conspiracy to carry out anti-minority riots in the state in 2002 following burning of a coach of the Sabarmati Express near Godhra railway station in February 2002 in which 59 people, mostly karsevaks, died.

Over 1,000 people, mostly belonging to the minority community, were killed in the riots, which had engulfed the state for several months.
