New Delhi: Superstar Amitabh Bachchan has moved from Uttar Pradesh to Gujarat.
Three years back he was the face of the Samajwadi Party in the state elections but now as fortunes of the SP change, Narendra Modi has got luckier with the Big B openly endorsing Modi's state.
In his blog, Bachchan has praised Modi saying, “He lives simply and with mere basic needs and most unlike the head of a state. He speaks with affection on development and progress. He is welcoming to fresh ideas and ideals. His oft repeated phrase of him being a CM, a common man, is not misunderstood. He does and acts as he speaks.”
It is being seen as the Paa effect. Bachchan flew down especially to Gandhinagar for a special screening of his latest movie exclusively for Modi.
In the past, Bollywood has been reluctant to fete Modi. But Bachchan doesn't mind being a brand ambassador for Modi's Gujarat.
It’s a sign of changing times. After the breakup of the SP and Congress, the Samajwadi Party seemed to be cosying up to the BJP. Jaya Bachchan is also an MP from the SP.
Does the Big B's new found friendship with Modi mean that a political realignment is in the offing or does it mean that the Bachchans too may be moving away from the SP just as Amar Singh did on Wednesday.
