Mumbai: In its latest order, the MoEF denied clearance to Lavasa saying credible action was not taken by the state government against the violations. The future of the 4000 crore project now lies in the hands of the Bombay high court which is expected to hear the case this week.
Speaking to CNN-IBN Chairman of Lavasa corporation Ajit Gulabchand hit out at the government saying delays such as these could hamper the investment climate in the country.
CNN-IBN: What does Lavasa corporation plan to do now?
Ajit Gulabchand: We will again appeal to the government, we will appeal to the court. Entrepreneurs need some amount of stability and predictability. If you start delaying projects just because of some technical fault that again is not anybody's fault, do you think you are creating that confidence and that predictability? Do you think that augurs well for investment in India?
CNN-IBN: Mr. Pawar has been in support of the project, have you spoken to him since, I ask because you wanted the PM…
Ajit Gulabchand: I have spoken to the cabinet, the PM, everyone possible to give clearance for this project, not because of some dependability but because it is the right thing to do. Despite all the clearances for the last 3-4 months, we fail to understand why are we still waiting.
CNN-IBN: Is this larger picture the special reason you want the PM himself to intervene in this case?
Ajit Gulabchand: Of course, the PM should intervene, the CM of Maharashtra should intervene. which is much larger.
