Melbourne: He is the man chosen to lead Preity Zinta-Ness Wadia's Mohali team in the inaugural DLF Indian Premier League Twenty20 tournament on April 18 and he is satisfied with the team acquired.
Speaking exclusively to CNN-IBN Chief Cricket Correspondent Nishant Arora in Melbourne, Yuvraj, one of the 'icon players', says, "It an honour to be captaining such a place. There are great players from the country."
On the concept of auctioning of players, Yuvraj says, "Bidding is a bit touch-and-go so you never know who you can get and who you can't. But as you can see the whole composition of the team, they are well balanced. I think we did well."
The Indian vice-captain for One-Day format is sure fans will enjoy the league.
"Well it is a different format. It is Twenty20 so it makes it very exciting and rather than watch all the Indian players and the international players, people can watch the international players interact with the Indian players. So it is different for them and different for us. They will enjoy it," he says.
"Obviously, we play each other in domestic cricket, we play each other in Challenger Series. We have faced each other. So it is going to be a real competition," he replied when asked if the league would be competitive.
However, Yuvraj was surprised by the low bids on Australian skipper Ricky Ponting and wicketkeeper/batsman Adam Gilchrist.
"The low bid for Ponting who is the best batsman in the world was a big surprise. But perhaps people thought that he will be on tour. Gilchrist's low bid was also a huge surprise," he added.
