Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Tuesday adjourned till July 1 the hearing on the revision petition and bail plea of former Haryana police chief S P S Rathore, convicted of molesting teenager Ruchika Girhotra in 1990.

There were no arguments in the court on Tuesday and despite the repeated requests of Rathore's wife and lawyer Abha Rathore to take up the case on priority, Justice Jitendra Chauhan adjourned the case till July 1.

Rathore, 68, has been foundfor molesting Ruchika in 1990 at neighbouring Panchkula town. She committed suicide three years later.

Rathore was sentenced to 18 months rigorous imprisonment by the district and sessions court of Chandigarh last month and has been lodged in high-security Burail jail here since May 25.
