Airline security contract staff go on strike

New Delhi: Services are set to slow down at international airports across the country with nearly 500 contractual employees responsible for the security of at least 60 international airlines threatening to strike work from Monday.

With this the X-ray and baggage clearing facilities at passenger, cargo and courier terminals are likely to be hit.

International flights will be the worst hit by this agitation.

The striking employees of the Indian Airline Transport Services allege that their wages have not been revised in the last five years.

They're now demanding benefits like provident fund, medical facilities and the renewal of identity cards.

The management, meanwhile, has threatened that if the employees don't get back to work they will be laid off.
