Mumbai: Rain is still creating havoc in Mumbai as the number of accidents on the Eastern Express Highway continue to increase.
The Eastern Express Highway that connects Thane to the Mumbai has seen an unprecedented number of accidents since monsoons hit the state and the blame is being placed on a faulty road surface.
Five more accidents have took place on the highway on Friday night.
The highway has become a commonplace to see cars, bikes, trucks and buses skidding on the road.
The accidents took place on the Sion-Ghatkopar-Chembur stretch on the highway that has been made slippery since the monsoon arrived.
In seperate accidents, a 56-year-old woman Zalabai Hirey and a 23-year-old man Shahabuddin Sheikh passed away.
These take the number of accidents on the Eastern Express Highway during the monsoon to over 140.
