Office-goers were the worst hit on Thursday morning as bus and train services were affected due to the heavy downpour.

The BMC’s health department on Tuesday had warned that there might be an increase in the number of monsoon-related ailments this year and advised people to take precautions.
With the monsoons arriving earlier this year and the Continuing Medical Education sessions being organised with general practitioners and private doctors, the BMC is expecting a rise in number of cases of malaria, dengue, gastroenteritis and leptospirosis being reported.
The state has started a number of gappi fish production centres in various health centres and civil hospitals. Gappi fish can reduce the density of mosquitoes by eating mosquito larvae.
