New Delhi: The Southwest monsoon on Friday moved further into Central India, bringing heavy rain in many parts of Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh, an India Meteorological Department official said.
"The monsoon has progressed into Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Orissa causing heavy rainfall at some places," the official said.
"The conditions are favourable for monsoon to move into parts of Northeast India, including Bihar and Jharkhand, and cover the whole of Maharashtra, West Bengal, Sikkim and some parts of Orissa during the next two-three days," the official added.
However, there will be no respite from scorching summer heat in northern India as heat wave is likely to continue during the weekend, he said.
