Gujarat: More anti-Modi, pro Sanjay Joshi posters surface

CNN-IBN | Updated Jun 10, 2012 at 11:19am IST

New Delhi: Two days after Sanjay Joshi had to resign from the BJP, posters appeared in Rajkot on Saturday night attacking Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi. The BJP's state executive is meeting in Rajkot. The posters were, however, quickly taken off overnight by the BJP workers.

BJP leader Sanjay Joshi, a bitter foe of Gujarat Narendra Modi, resigned from the party on June 8, exposing simmering divisions within its ranks.

Modi agreed to attend last month's national executive of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Mumbai only after BJP president Nitin Gadkari asked Joshi to leave the leadership panel.

Modi and Joshi have been at loggerheads for years. Modi stayed away from campaigning in Uttar Pradesh this year after Gadkari made Joshi one of the key persons in the election campaign.

Both Modi and Joshi have strong ties with the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS).

Apart from that, followers of senior Gujarat BJP leader Kesubhai Patel are planning to hold a big rally at Panchmal. Sources say Keshubhai himself is likely to attend it. Kesubhai and his followers are not attending the two day BJP meet in Rajkot.
