Most expensive NTR movie gears up for release

Hyderabad: Yamadonga, the most expensive Telugu film ever made is all set to hit the theatres in Andhra Pradesh on Independence Day. And it's not just the movie budget that's making news – the film also has a hit actor-director combo.

“I think I have a good profession on the side. If I am not happening as a hero, I can always be a singer. But, it is really tough when you step into his (senior NTR) shoes. It’s there at the back of the mind that I have got to prove myself. There is a constant pressure. But I think I came off well,” says actor NTR on his latest film Yamadonga.

The film is what he calls an inspiration from his grandfather – NTR's film Yamagola.

Directed by Rajamouli, the only director in Tollywood with a 100 per cent success rate, the film is a comedy based on the tried and tested theme of Yama, the God of death and his interaction with the human world.

The formula is tested, the director has the best track record in Tollywood, the money is big and so are the names. Many believe that after NTR's low run over the last few years, this film might come as a breather for him.

“This is going to give me a new lease of life and it will take me to the same position that I got after Simhadhari,” NTR said.

Agreeing with NTR, Rajamouli said, “It will definitely give him a different outlook. People will start seeing him in a different image than what he has now.”

And it's not just the film's star cast and the Rs 23-crore mega budget that’s grabbing attention among Telugu film lovers, there's an additional bonus – audiences can listen to Punjbai pop icon Daler Mehandi croon in Telugu as well.
