Mumbai: Motley theatre group is all set to celebrate its second anniversary with an array of performances across Mumbai. The founder of the group, veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah and the actors spoke about the upcoming event.
Motley theatre group may be gearing up to celebrate its second anniversary, but it was conceived some 30 years back by two men.
"We only wanted to do a play together," said Shah.
For its anniversary celebrations, the group has planned a theatre festival with an ensemble of actors to light up the stage.
"The festival starts at Prithvi theatre on July 13 and will go on till September 19. It will move from Prithvi to NCPA and then to B N Vidya hall at Dadar," said actress Ratna Pathak Shah.
"A festival is a celebration. I hope any group does a festival to look back on its work and also to look forward," said Shah.
And that's what Motley is going to do. Apart from the four plays featuring Naseeruddin Shah himself, It is also bringing to life the first play that began it all Waiting for Godot.
However, this time round not only will it have the pioneers, but also actor Randeep Hooda onboard. But is his love for theatre is going to keep him away from Bollywood for long?
"I am really looking forward to my next film," said Hooda.
Now, while films might have the glam quotient, theatre is the first love of many.
