Kozhikode, Kerala: Musician AR Rahman performed live in Kozhikode on Sunday. Incidentally he won't be performing live for at least five years now.
"I'm very happy to be home, the moment the plane was landing at the Cochin airport I knew I was among my people. Thank you very much," said Rahman.
The 'Mozart from Madras', Alla Rakha Rahman was honoured by the Kerala government for his achievements. Meanwhile, many thronged to catch a glimpse of the maestro in performance for a show organized by the Global Kerala Initiative 'Keraleeyam'.
Ticket sales from this raised about Rs 7 crores, proceeds of which will go to the rehabilitation of HIV positive children.
This show was aptly titled Jai Ho and went live in Kozhikode on Sunday. It was Rahman's first concert after his Oscar win. And possibly his last for the next five years owing to his many professional commitments.
Rahman was accompanied by a 98 member troupe, including Hariharan and Benny Dayal that belted out 30 songs over a period of two and half hours.
