New Delhi: He was the star of a complicated story. Samajwadi party MP from Salempur, Hari Kewal Prasadh claims that on July 4, two men came to him with a simple request.

“They asked me to give my vote to Pratibha Patil,” says Prasadh.

The men wanted Prasadh to vote for UPA candidate Pratibha Patil in the Presidential poll.

When he refused the men left, but complications began when the MP noticed that Rs 10,000 had been left on his table.

He informed the police then, but an FIR was only registered this Tuesday - four months later. The police remained unavailable for comment.

And one level now, the episode questions the credibility of the presidential election.

The MP however, also doesn’t rule out the possibility that it could have been a failed sting operation.

"I had a feeling when these people came and left the money it might be the work of some media men,” says Prasadh.

The answer can be revealed after the police investigation but since it has been four months, the trail may have gone cold.
