Khandwa: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has agreed to reduce the water level at the Omkareshwar Dam to 189 metre, says sources, after the villagers were protesting in neck-deep water for 17 days. He has also agreed to form a five-member committee that will look at all their demands in the next three months.

Chouhan has also agreed on the land for land demand as per the GRA order to rehabilitate the displaced protestors.

The villagers are, however, calling it a partial victory. They will wait for the water level to recede before ending their protest.

Villagers displaced by the Omkareshwar Dam in Madhya Pradesh have been protesting in neck-deep water fighting for new homes and adequate compensation. A central fact-finding team will reach Khandwa on Monday to meet the protestors.
