MP govt cashes in on Ram row, plans 'Rampath'

Bhopal: Lord Ram it seems is the chosen one for all controversies this season.

After the Sethusamudram project gave BJP a chance to attack the Centre for its controversial affidavit denying the existence of Ram, the party has come out with another venture in Madhya Pradesh called Rampath Project.

Under this, the state government will join the places in the state through which Lord Ram is believed to have carved his way down South

According to the Ramayan, while travelling towards the south, Ram passed through Satna, Mandla and Balaghat in Madhya Pradesh.

The state government has asked the archaeological department to gather concrete evidence on Ram's journey. It plans to transform the route Ram took into a religious site.

“Here are certain historical proofs that say where all from Ram passed from all we are trying is to connect these paths, and will let people have an idea about lord Ram's life,” says Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan

The VHP has predictably expressed happiness.

“If the MP government is doing such a thing then VHP thanks them. VHP will be happy if such a route is build,” says Dharam Narayan Sharma of VHP.

The BJP has chosen a politically astute time to dwell on Rampath hoping as they are to ride on the Ram Sethu controversy.

The strategy appears to be more and more of Ram as the Gujarat election approaches.
