Click to play videoBhopal: The Education minister of Madhya Pradesh, Laxman Singh Gaud is under the scanner for misusing government funds for personal purposes, allotted to the Hindi Granth Academy.
CNN-IBN has documents that clearly show Gaud taking new telephone connections and air conditioners in the name of the academy.
Around Rs 40,000 were spent on getting the EPBX systems for 16 phone lines in the minister's office.
Two ACs worth Rs 62,000 were also purchased from the Hindi Academy fund. Incidentally Gaud is also the chairman of the Hindi Granth Academy, which has an annual budget of Rs 28 lakh.
However, when contacted, the minister brushed off the allegations saying, "Samanya prakriya hai ki jab aavashyaktayein lagti hain to aise kuch offison mein developments hote rehte hain. (It's part of the normal procedure that when there are needs in offices, these kind of developments have to be undertaken)."
