New Delhi: Flash floods claimed nine lives in Madhya Pradesh. The district administration has asked schools to shut down as a precaution. All major rivers are flowing near or above the danger mark.
A high alert has been sounded in Hoshangabad, Sehore and Raisen districts. Many state highways have been closed due to incessant rains.
With rivers like Narmada, Betwa and Tawa flowing above the danger mark, giving rise to a flood-like situation in the state, 50 villages were affected by the flood, out of which condition in 20 of them was alarming.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said efforts were being made on a war footing to tackle the situation caused by the heavy rains and nothing would be spared to help the affected people.
