MP who slapped bank officer in row

New Delhi: M Jagannath, the Congress MP from Andhra Pradesh, who embarrassed his party by slapping a bank manager last month, is one angry politician.

Jagannath, MP from Nagarkurnool, became notorious when a video showing him slapping a bank manager in Mahbubnagar district for allegedly delaying loans to SC/ST beneficiaries was played out on TV channels. Jagannath apologised but doesn’t seem to have learnt how to control his temper.

A new video shows him shouting at MLAs and district officials during a meeting in his constituency. This time too he accused the government officials of not helping Dalits. He got angrier when district officials asked him to calm down.

Jagannath, last time, said that his hand touched the bank manager’s cheek by mistake. “When I tried to put my hand on his [manager] shoulder, he pulled back. My hand happened to touch his cheek. It gave an impression that I slapped him,” he had said.

Did he get angry by mistake this time too? Jagannath is yet to clarify.
