Mumbai: Actor Riteish Deshmukh is pretty much on a roll these days. His comic turn in Dhamaal and Heyy Babyy has struck a chord with the audiences. Here's the actor, unplugged:

Rajeev Masand: So, there are lots of reasons to smile these days? Hey Babyy is a big hit and Dhamaal has got encouraging reviews.

Riteish Deshmukh: Yes, it feels good to see a film doing well. I'm looking forward to the response to Dhamaal.

Rajeev Masand: Your really seem to have found your feet in comedy.

Riteish Deshmukh: See, you do a film and then when it does well, you get typecast into a category. Unfortunately, Cash didn’t do well. But if it had, then people would have said, action works for you too. It seems to be a season for comedies with Hey Babyy and Partner. But then there are films like Chak De India which have done well.

Rajeev Masand: The fact that your father is the Chief Minister of Maharashtra (Vilasrao Deshmukh), does that ever influence your choice of films?

Riteish Deshmukh: Yes, the first few films because they would know me as my father’s son then. But hopefully now people also look at me as an actor, that’s why it is easier for me to chose films now. I did action, comedy and sex comedies too. Otherwise I wouldn’t have done them. Hopefully I won’t anymore. But I have done a lot of things.

Rajeev Masand: Now you are doing a modern-day version of Alladin. If you were granted three wishes, what would you ask for?

Riteish Deshmukh: If I rub my lamp and Mr Amitabh Bachchan were to come out of it, it would be worth three wishes.
