Muivah sings X'mas carol in Delhi

New Delhi: NSCN leader T Muivah celebrated Christmas in Delhi but didn’t forget to send out a subtle message in true Yuletide spirit that the Government must bend but if Muivah was tough, so was the former Naga mediator Swaraj Kaushal.

It was time to celebrate Christmas for NSCN general secretary T Muivah and top Naga leaders in the Capital as politics and the decades old insurgency problem of the north east took a back seat. But hidden in the festive spirit was Muivah's message.

Muivah said, “Who should take the initiative to soften their proclamation by the child, no that’s wrong, not by the child but by the father. Father has to come down, bend down to the level of his child.”

But who blinks first is an attitude that's got neither the Government and nor the leaders of the longest insurgency movement in the country anywhere. It was time to look ahead, said the former government interlocutor.

Former government interlocutor Swaraj Kaushal said, “When the peace knocks at the door, it's the time to unbolt and unlock the house.”

The Naga leader admitted that he was waiting for the dates for the peace talks to be announced.

It’s not just the Nagas, but the Government as well, which is waiting and watching the Naga leader's movement ahead of the Manipur elections.

Home ministry sources have told CNN-IBN that the talks would happen only after these elections.

It was perhaps the Yuletide spirit but the fire in the Naga leader's speech was missing.

It is perhaps that he is keeping his cards close to his chest or maybe realisation is finally dawning that too much blood has flown down the Brahmaputra.
