New Delhi: The customs department has seized two aircrafts of the Mukesh Ambani owned Reliance Industries for allegedly evading duty worth over Rs 57 crore.
The Central Board of Excise and Customs says the aircraft were procured for charter, but used for personal travel.
Aircraft for charter attract a 10 per cent customs duty, while the duty stands at 18 per cent for personal travel.
The aircraft have been released provisionally.
RIL has said: "The authorities concerned as a matter of routine procedure have sent out notices to several non-scheduled operators. Reliance is fully complying with all procedures as notified by the authorities."
