Mulayam may join hands with BJP to form govt in UP: Digvijaya

Press Trust of India

Allahabad: Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh on Monday targeted Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav for making "not a single utterance against BJP and Sangh Parivar" during election campaign and claimed Yadav may not hesitate to tie up with BJP to form a government in Uttar Pradesh.

"I wonder why has Mulayam Singh Yadav been so soft towards BJP during his election campaigns. He has been attacking every political party but has made not a single utterance against BJP and the Sangh Parivar", Singh told an election meeting.

"Only one inference can be drawn (from this). The SP supremo is keeping all options open. He is desperate to form the next government in the state and will not hesitate to join hands with the BJP to attain his objective", he said.

The Congress general secretary reiterated his charge that members of the Sangh Parivar were involved in terror activities and flayed BJP leader LK Advani for having suggested involvement of Muslims in such acts.

"Advani keeps saying all Muslims are not terrorists but all terrorists are Muslims. He owes an explanation to the Muslim community as now his own ilk have been found to be involved in such acts in places like the Mecca Masjid at Hyderabad", Singh said.

Taking potshots at Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati, he said "she has been raising the slogan bahujan hitay bahujan sukhay, which means for the benefit and prosperity of most people. But as a matter of fact, during her tenure only those associated with ruling Bahujan Samaj Party headed by her are happy. The rest are suffering".
