New Delhi: US Ambassador Mulford called on National Security Adviser MK Narayanan on Thursday morning. The meeting was reportedly meant to reassure India that the US was committed to the NSG process and securing a clean waiver for India.

Atomic Energy Commission chief Anil Kakodkar was also present. On Wednesday, Mulford denied that the US had been less than transparent on terminating nuclear trade if India tested an atomic device.

Meanwhile in Washington Sean McCormack of the state department indicated he was hopeful about India's chances at the NSG. “It is in our interest and it is in the interest of India to develop civilian nuclear energy while providing some assurances regarding non proliferation activities,” he said.
