KOCHI: The Indian Air Force on Tuesday submitted before the Kerala High Court that assistance would be provided expeditiously to tackle any disaster that may occur in the state.
Air Force Wing Commander M K Vats filed the statement through Assistant Solicitor General P Parameswaran Nair on a batch of petitions regarding the safety of the people in connection with the Mullaperiyar Dam issue. The Indian Navy also ensured its assistance in case the dam bursts.
“An exhaustive Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for disaster management as per the Dam Management Act 2005 is in existence at the Southern Air Command to deal with natural calamities,” the Air Force informed.
