Mumbai: The face-off between producers and multiplex owners have brought the single screen theaters back in action.
With tickets as low as Rs 50 it is any cinegoers dream come true, but that is if you are ready to compromise on the luxury factor.
Mumbai's suburban single screen theaters for example are in a dilapidated condition with torn seats, poor on-screen projection, bad acoustics and absolutely no frills.
What’s more there are no plans for any improvement in the near future either.
Single screen theater owner Manoj Desai said, “Multiplex and single theater culture is different, as long as the seats are clean and the bathrooms are clean, it is fine."
But having already experienced state-of-the-art screening facilities at multiplexes, the audience may not completely agree.
If you don't mind replacing your Rs 200 pop corn combo with a Rs 15 packet, then you are not really cutting that raw a deal because if the love for cinema has not been overpowered by the movie experience then you can still catch the new releases at a single screen theater near you.
