Mumbai: Three people were arrested on Thursday after three were killed and six injured as a portion of an under-construction bridge collapses at Marol in suburban Mumbai. The construction contractor's team is being questioned for possible negligence.
Mumbai Police said that the negligence by the contractor led to the incident. They also said certain safety measures were not taken while work was going on and that caused the mishap. Uttam Kolekar said, "Three people are dead and six are injured. A case has been registered against the contractor, engineer and the supervisor of L&T. The investigation is on."
Eight fire engines were immediately rushed to the scene and the operation to clear the rubble is still on but the BMC Disaster Management team and fire officials said that all those stuck under the debris have been rescued. The injured were admitted to Cooper Hospital and Desai Hospital.
