Mumbai: Just hours after an interview, high-profile cosmetic surgeon Dr Vijay Sharma seemed to have forgotten all that he was talking about.
“The constitution of the body God has given us should be respected,” he had said.
Following the interview, he allegedly molested the 22-year-old reporter at his clinic on Saturday.
The doctor has been granted bail, but as he walked out of a Bandra court with his face covered, it was proof enough of the damage the incident has done to him.
“He caught hold of her hand, tried to shake hands with her and tried to kiss her and used filthy language and passed lewd comments,” said Phalguni, the victim’s lawyer.
But that wasn't all. After seeing reports about Sharma in the media, another woman turned up at court claiming Sharma had sexually harassed her too.
“He used to ask me to undress, touch me at wrong places, kiss me on the cheek and take me to the bathroom. After that I stopped going to him,” said the alleged victim.
But Sharma's family insists he's being framed by professional rivals jealous of his success. His client list looks impressive with several big Bollywood names.
“It could be a cheap publicity stunt or whatever it is you can’t spoil the reputation of a doctor this way. My father has a clean character and this is all fabricated,” said his daughter.
The doctor is now out on bail but irrespective of what happens in court, his image of a prominent cosmetic surgeon has already taken a beating.
