Mumbai: Mumbai is flooded again with monsoon deluge. The city has faced this kind of disaster year after year in the last few years.
Mumbai residents ask serious questions like why can't the administration nail the issue and bring the infrastructure tio such a level that no disasters happen in monsoon rains.
For a Mumbai family, the DaCunhas, the rains bring memories of two sons they lost in swarming waters of rainy season in 2005.
On 26th July, 2005, the lanes of Kurla turn had turned into rivers with up to 20 feet of water and that is when disaster struck the DaCunha family.
Minakshi DaCunha's two sons, Adley and Kennedy had struggled back from college, into a locality that looked like a war zone.
The brothers swung into action and rescued a number of people stranded on rooftops and on higher floors but both brothers disappeared before dawn.
The boys' mother Minakshi Dacunha said, "We were on the second floor when it began flooding." But that is all she could say as she fought back tears.
The father of the boys told how the helpful boys were seen drowning by others.
"My sons drowned in a pit.The watchman saw it but didn't inform us. Later, we found the bodies in the pit," said Polly DaCunha.
Adley's mother is in shock for the past year and says she has nothing left to live for.
For the DaCunha family, July 26th drowned all their hopes and dreams.
Now they live out their days, hoping that such a tragedy doesn't strike any other family.
