Mumbai: The seventh accused in the Mira Road gang-rape case was arrested on Tuesday after he surrendered to the police.
"We have arrested Yogesh Patil, the seventh accused and he will be produced before the magistrate today," Assistant Superintendent of Police, Maithili Jha, said.
Patil had been absconding after the 19-year-old victim filed a case against seven persons alleging that she was gang-raped on two occasions.
"We will be interrogating Patil about where he had absconded and other details regarding the case," a police official said.
Six others have been arrested in connection with the case by the police earlier.
The victim, a college student, was allegedly raped by a group of five youths on May 14 in a lodge on Mira Road.
The accused had made a video clip of the incident with which they
blackmailed her into silence.
Another two allegedly gang-raped her on June 6 after blackmailing her.
