Mumbai: Ghulam Ali's concert cancelled after organisers receive threats

Mumbai: Tensions along the Line of Control may have eased but their repercussion on cultural relations between India and Pakistan have continued. And the latest artiste to have been targeted is Pakistani ghazal singer Ghulam Ali.

Ghulam Ali's concert in Mumbai, which was organised to pay a tribute to Indian ghazal maestro Jagjit Singh on his 78th birth anniversary on February 8, was cancelled after the organisers allegedly received threats from a local political party. Jagjit Singh died on October 10, 2011, following brain haemorrhage.

The Pakistani singer had performed in Pune in December, 2012 but the organisers say they don't want to take a chance in Mumbai, especially after the tensions at the LoC between India and Pakistan. Ghulam Ali is known for his ghazals like "Chupke chupke raat din', "Hum tere shahar mein aaye hain" and "Hum ko kiske gham ne".

The Pakistani ghazal singer\'s concert was organised to pay tribute to Jagjit Singh on his 78th birth anniversary on February 8.
