Mumbai: Any 17-year-old girl would give up anything to dance with Shah Rukh Khan, a chance that not many get.
But 17-year-old Pearl Verma from Mumbai turned down the offer to be one of the 12 girls dancing with King Khan in his next release, Chak De India and instead chose to sit in a dark corner of her home for weeks and study for her class 12 boards.
"They gave me an option of skipping my board exams, something I wasn't willing to do. Today I am proud that I chose not to act," says Pearl.
Pearl who is justifiably proud of her decision has scored 94.4 per cent in her Boards. The state level badminton player is now planning to apply to the country’s top commerce college SRCC in Delhi. But she hasn't yet given up on the big screen career.
“I can safely juggle my work and my film offers now, so I plan to try for films too,” Pearl says.
So whether her calling might be Bollywood or business, as of now the unusual topper is enjoying the fruits of hard labour and smart choices.
