Mumbai: India is all set to host the 4th World Military games in Hyderbad this October. But even Mumbai will get a slice of the action where soldiers from around the world will gather minus their guns.
The sails teams from the Indian Navy are busy honing their skills for the sailing competitions of the 4th World Military Games. “Mumbai has been chosen for two of the most technical and infrastructure intensive events—the Triathalon and Sailing,” said Vice Adm Sangram S Byce, Flag Officer Western Naval Commmand.
In true military spirit the symbol of the Hyderabad Infantry Division "the Bison" has become the mascot of the games. Five months from now "Bravo the Indian Bison" will be leading charge into one of world’s biggest sporting arena's—Mumbai's Back Bay and Marine Drive"
"Events like swimming for 1.5kms, cycling for 40 kilometers and running for 10 km at Chaupati and Marine Drive is going to be a challenge,” Lt Col R D Singh, Trainer, Triathlon team.
With 30 percent of the Olympic medalists coming from armed forces across the globe, the competitive spirit is bound to be high. And having successfully conducted the world military sailing championships and won the top place last year, the expectation is obvious. "Getting the gold again,” H D Motivala, Chief National Coach of sailing, said.
